Australia Grass-Fed Beef Tenderloin & Pumpkin Purée for Babies (8m+)
Beef Tenderloin & Pumpkin Purée
Beef tenderloin is one of the most iron-rich proteins a baby can eat — and the Australian grass-fed difference is real. Grass-fed beef contains more omega-3 fatty acids, more CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), and a cleaner nutritional profile than grain-fed alternatives.
The thin 35g slices steam quickly and blend to a silky smooth consistency. Combined with naturally sweet pumpkin — loaded with beta-carotene for eye and immune development — this is one of the most nutritionally complete first purées you can offer.
Ingredients
Makes approx. 2 small baby servings. Freeze extras in ice cube trays for up to 1 month.
How to Make
Place diced pumpkin and beef tenderloin slices in a steamer basket. Steam over medium heat for 18–20 minutes until pumpkin is completely tender and beef is fully cooked through.
Remove the beef slices and confirm they are cooked through with no pink. The thin slices cook evenly all the way through. Tenderloin is boneless — no need to check for bones.
Blend beef and pumpkin together with any collected steam juices, adding breast milk or formula one tablespoon at a time until perfectly smooth. The pumpkin creates a naturally velvety texture.
Cool to a safe temperature. Offer 2–3 tablespoons to start. Refrigerate for up to 24 hours, or freeze in ice cube trays for up to 1 month.
Why Grass-Fed Beef?
Australian grass-fed beef tenderloin is one of the most nutrient-dense baby proteins available. Grass-fed means higher omega-3s, more zinc, and exceptional heme iron — all critical during the rapid growth of the first year.
Tips for Parents
Japanese kabocha (栗子南瓜) is naturally sweeter and drier than butternut squash, giving a denser, more flavourful purée. Butternut squash is also excellent. Avoid watery varieties like regular marrow.
The thin 35g slices are designed to cook evenly and quickly. They steam more efficiently than a thick steak and require less time — ensuring the beef remains tender and easy to blend.
Vacuum-sealed for freshness. Best consumed within 3 months frozen. Thaw in the fridge overnight before use. The 35g slice portion is sized for a single-batch purée session.
Never add salt to baby food under 12 months. The natural sweetness of pumpkin and the rich depth of grass-fed beef create a flavour profile babies find naturally appealing — no seasoning needed.
