If there is one ingredient that nutritionists consistently call a superfood for babies, it is liver. Duck liver is extraordinarily rich in iron, Vitamin A, B12, and folate — nutrients that support brain development, red blood cell production, and rapid growth in the first year.

Paired with sweet apple, the liver's rich earthiness softens into a flavour profile babies genuinely enjoy. The Vitamin C in apple also actively boosts iron absorption — a pairing that is both delicious and scientifically smart.

🍎
Apple
1 small (~80g), peeled & diced
🍼
Breast Milk or Formula
2 tbsp, to blend

Makes approx. 1–2 small baby servings. Serve no more than 1–2 times per week due to high Vitamin A content in liver.

How to Make

1
Steam

Place diced apple and the duck liver cube in a steamer basket. Steam over medium heat for 12–15 minutes until the apple is completely tender and the duck liver is fully cooked through with no pink remaining.

2
Check Liver

Remove the duck liver. It is boneless and very soft — but check for any connective tissue membrane and peel it away before blending. Properly steamed duck liver has a smooth, pâté-like texture.

3
Blend

Blend duck liver and apple together, adding breast milk or formula one tablespoon at a time. The apple's moisture and natural sweetness tempers the rich, earthy liver into a beautifully smooth purée.

4
Cool & Serve

Cool to a safe temperature. Offer 1–2 tablespoons to start. Refrigerate for up to 24 hours, or freeze in ice cube trays for up to 1 month. Serve liver no more than 1–2 times per week.

Why Duck Liver?

Liver is nature's multivitamin — and duck liver is among the most nutrient-dense foods your baby can eat. Small portions, offered 1–2 times per week, deliver an exceptional boost of critical brain-building and blood-forming nutrients.

🩸
Iron + B12
Duck liver is one of the richest natural sources of heme iron and Vitamin B12 — both essential for red blood cell production and cognitive development in the first year of life.
👁️
Vitamin A
Critical for vision, immune function, and skin health. Duck liver delivers Vitamin A in its preformed retinol form — immediately usable by your baby's body.
🍎
Vitamin C Boost
Apple's Vitamin C enhances the absorption of iron from duck liver — turning this simple pair into a more powerful nutrient delivery system than either ingredient alone.
🧠
Folate & Choline
Duck liver is rich in folate and choline — nutrients that directly support brain cell formation and neural development during this critical window of rapid cognitive growth.

Tips for Parents

Portion Frequency

Due to its very high Vitamin A content, serve liver no more than 1–2 times per week. This ensures your baby benefits from its extraordinary nutrient density without exceeding safe Vitamin A intake levels.

Texture Check

Properly steamed duck liver should feel very soft — almost like a pâté. If any part still feels firm or grainy, steam for an extra 2–3 minutes and blend again until completely smooth.

Storage

Vacuum-sealed for freshness. Best consumed within 3 months frozen. Thaw in the fridge overnight before use. The 10g pack is sized perfectly for a single baby portion.

No Salt

Never add salt to baby food under 12 months. Duck liver has a naturally deep, savory flavour — and the sweetness of apple provides all the contrast this purée needs.
